School of Rock is a professional development program for formal and informal educators on board or involving the JOIDES Resolution. While living on board the ship (when possible) or in a land/lab-based workshop, teachers will work with scientists and technicians to learn about Earth science, marine science, paleoceanography, and global climate change within a rich research environment. Educators gain knowledge scientific drilling, and how to do the kinds of scientific analyses and lab exercises program-scientists do. Supported by the U.S. Science Support Program (USSSP), A-STEP will be joining School of Rock for a special shore-based program to coincide with the San Diego port call of the JOIDES Resolution on September 8-18, 2019.
